Q1. I would like to purchase and download ActMon Computer Monitoring on the computer I am currently using, but install it on another computer. Is this possible?

Yes. The ActMon Computer Monitoring installation file is compact and will fit on a single floppy disk. You may purchase and download on a computer and copy it to floppy disk, and then later install on another computer. Please note that the single user software license for ActMon Computer Monitoring allows for one installation per purchase. Please also note that you are only allowed to install ActMon Computer Monitoring on a computer you own. If you would like to install ActMon Computer Monitoring on more than one computer, we offer multi-user and site licenses with great discounts.
Q2. How do you count the licenses for the multi-user license?

The installations are counted by the "ActMon Computer Monitoring logging engine". Example: You have 10 PC's with the logging engine running and two PC's with (only) the ActMon Computer Monitoring Control Center to convert and read the log file. In this case you need the 10-user license. Installations of ActMon Computer Monitoring Control Center are free.

Q1. After I copy the ActMon Computer Monitoring files to a new PC, do I have to re-enter the license key ?

Yes. Please re-enter the license key. Or use the remote deployment functions.
Q2. How do I remove (uninstall) ActMon Computer Monitoring?

For security reasons and to avoid tampering with the monitoring software, the software is NOT listed in the standard Windows "Add or Remove Software Panel".

But uninstalling ActMon Computer Monitoring is easy via the ActMon Control Center:

  1. This first step is only required if you already deleted some files manually: Reinstall ActMon Computer Monitoring or download just the Control Center
  2. Open ActMon Control Center (type "ACMCC" at run prompt) or use the file that you just downloaded.
  3. Select MAIN MENU > GOTO > UNINSTALL - Done!

The uninstallation takes less than 5 seconds and completely removes all files.

Q1.

How do I get back into ActMon Computer Monitoring Commander?

Type "ACMCC" in the RUN box. The RUN box is located in the lower part of START menu.
Note: If you renamed theControl Center "acmcc.exe" file for security reasons you need to enter the new name. Example: If you renamed "acmcc.exe" to "sunny.exe" you would enter "sunny" in the RUN box.

If you forgot your ActMon Control Center password you can use the LAST 11 characters of your license key as password (including the hypen).

Example:

If your license key is

AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE-FFFFF

then your ActMon password is

EEEEE-FFFFF (including the hypen "-")

For an *UNREGISTERED* trial version of ActMon the master password is "actmonreset" (V5.03 and better).

For your security, logging in via this special password automatically reset the orignially stored password and you must enter a new password after the login.


Q2. Does ActMon Computer Monitoring log every application title, path etc.?

Yes, to our knowledge, the title and path of every application is logged. Also, ActMon Computer Monitoring logs almost every keystroke, even the XP login screen.
Q3. Is the logon password recorded?

Yes, it is! (You can disable this feature in the Control Center)

Q1. Can ActMon Computer Monitoring also send the log files via AOL ?

Yes, ActMon Computer Monitoring can send emails when logged in to AOL to an AOL account. But for sending you need to specify a standard account. AOL uses its own proprietary email protocol and unfortunately not the Internet standard SMTP. So you can either use the built-account or get your own (free) email account here.

Yes, If the PC is not connected to the Internet, ActMon Computer Monitoring does NOT connect to the Internet. Instead it waits and continues to log activities. The report is sent as soon as the PC is connected to the Internet the next time.
Q4. Do the send emails show up in any "Send Items" folder on the client PC?

No! ActMon Computer Monitoring sends the emails completely independent of the client PC email program.

Q1. How can we deploy (install) ActMon Computer Monitoring effectively on multiple PCs within our company ?

ActMon Computer Monitoring contains advanced LAN support. This allows you to automatically prepare a file that contains all the necessary settings. You can then simply copy this file to the PCs. See the user manual for more details on it.
Q2. What happens if ActMon Computer Monitoring wants to transfer a report and the Laptop is not connected the the LAN?

If the PC is not connected to the LAN, ActMon Computer Monitoring waits and continues to log activities. The report is sent as soon as the PC is connected to the LAN the next time.
 
   
6. Security:
   
Q1. If people know ActMon Computer Monitoring is installed, can they circumvent or manipulate the software without me knowing?

ActMon Computer Monitoring has many security features to prevent this: When installed invisibly, ActMon Computer Monitoring does not show up as an icon, does not appear in the Windows system tray, does not appear in Windows Programs, does not show up in the Windows task list, cannot be uninstalled without the ActMon Computer Monitoring Commander password which you can specify, and ActMon Computer Monitoring does not slow down the operation of the computer it is recording.

If the log file is emailed out or saved on a network server it is not accessible for the user of the local PC and can not be deleted. Even when stored locally, it is impossible to manipulate the log file without breaking the ActMon Computer Monitoring encryption scheme first. But as with any filter, surveillance or security software, a computer expert could ultimately disable or delete the ActMon Computer Monitoring installation, but this will not go unnoticed by you !
